Probably Celestions most famous speaker, the T1221 G12M Greenback has been a staple of rock guitar sound since the sixties when Marshall started using them in their 1960 4×12 cabinets. Angus Young and Eddie Van Halen both owed part of their sound to Greenback speakers. Although production stopped for a brief spell in the 80’s they were soon reintroduced and are still being made today.
Often favoured by classic rock and blues guitarists, the G12M is voiced with additional broad mid-range attack and restrained top-end to give a forward punchy attitude to chords and a searing lead tone without fizz as well as compressing nicely when pushed. With its well-controlled low end it can be used singly in low-powered amps or in multiples for high-power rock heads. It’s also an ideal guitar speaker to bring drive and definition to modern high gain amps.
This speaker was made in England in January, 1999 and has the sought after 6402 cone. It’s a 16 ohm speaker that handles 25 watts.
